La Oaxaquena Restaurant

Originally named "La Oaxaqueña", the tiny yet friendly restaurant never stopped catering to families.The waiters are very friendly, and always ready to cater a family oriented lunch. The restaurant is very small, and has a music system with a jukebox, mostly with Hispanic centered music. The food is always fresh, never stale, and always in touch with its Mexican-American roots. The highlights of the place is the fresh food as well as the the staff's hospitality.

Food is consistent and tasty, fresh veggies, consider checking out the quite chill location on Amsterdam in person too. Mole enchiladas FTW, comes with rice&beans, nice value. Also the tortas, tacos, thin fried steak, everything really. Delivery was a bit hairy for a minute but it looks like the got it straightened out well.

Great authentic Mexican food in remodeled restaurant. First thing: this restaurant has been remodeled and no longer has the grocery store look to it. Great place for fresh squeezed juices. fresh juice is sold in every part of Mexico but yet rarely seen in contemporary Mexican restaurants in the US. i ordered a carrot/orange and it was excellent. I ordered huevos rancheros here. Not bad. Closer to the real thing than anywhere i have ever tried in nyc. Warm corn tortillas (should have been fried) with refried beans and then two fried eggs on top. All smothered in green salsa. The guacamole was good. How can guac ever be bad?
